Hawk Watch Wednesday September 2, 2009
posted by Doug Gochfeld | 8:27 PM
Steady northeast winds throughout contributed to a rather slow day raptor-wise, with 63 migrant raptors counted. There were some non-raptor highlights however, including 2 Cliff Swallows (6 species of swallow seen from the platform today), 8 Brown Pelicans (flock of 7 south of the watch plus a single bird soaring over towards the Meadows), an early morning Northern Gannet, and a juvenile Black Tern that showed up at Bunker Pond early in the AM and then again after 3 PM.
