Register directly by phone by calling 609.861.0700. Paid registration ensures a place. Group size is limited and a minimum number of participants is necessary. Sorry, no refunds unless the program is cancelled by CMBO. Instructions for field trips, with meeting times, places, and other details, will be sent at least one week prior to the events, and are usually available upon request.

The Maurice River is a well known wintering and nesting area for bald eagles. Trips will explore the upper part of the river between Millville and Mauricetown. The Maurice River is designated as Wild & Scenic by the National Park Service. It hosts one of New Jersey's largest stands of wild rice which attracts waterfowl. Participants will search for eagles (which we will view discreetly and from a distance) and other raptors, wintering waterfowl, and welcome the return of nesting ospreys. Also enjoy the natural
beauty of this part of the river, largely inaccessible by land.

 

All trips are two hours.  Trips will depart from the public landing at the City of Millville Municipal Marina on Ware Avenue at the Route 49 intersection (adjacent to Millville Municipal Complex/City Hall). There is ample free parking adjacent to the landing. The landing is 2 blocks from the downtown arts, shopping, and dining district.

POOR MAN'S PELAGIC

Take the “poor man’s pelagic” across Delaware Bay aboard the Cape May Lewes Ferry at a time of year when hundreds of Northern Gannets (up close and personal), loons, cormorants, gulls, terns, and scoters concentrate in the bay. Osprey will be back and tending nests, and many other migrants are likely. Meet CMBO naturalists at the Cape May Ferry terminal landing for a half hour of birding prior to sailing.  We'll board the 1 PM ferry to Delaware and return on the 2:45 PM. Finish by birding at the jetty near the dock if time permits. PHOTO I.D. WILL BE REQUIRED.

Preregistration is required; limited to 20 participants.  Cost:  $25 members / $30 nonmembers (includes round trip walk-on ferry fee)
